Weekly Memory Verses

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.  If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

1 John 2 : 15

Joyful Singers
“Give unto the LORD the glory due unto His Name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.” (Psalm 29:2)

Year 2008 has been a year in which the focus was on excellence in service.  This would inevitably require concentration in vocal techniques.  The shortcomings and deficiencies of the choir are usually excused on ground that it is a volunteered ministry and that therefore a respectable standard of excellence is not required.  A good and reasonable standard of any service for the Lord requires training and practice.

On the other hand, every presentation by the choir is not for the purpose of displaying individually or collectively the operatic abilities of its members.  The scriptural purpose and the spiritual emphasis is to seek to build up one another through the heavenly songs (Colossians 3:16).

Individual choir members were found to assist in the growth of the church in the areas of music by serving as Sunday School teachers, youth choir director, and other capacities.  Whatever and however they serve, everyone is working as part of a total plan that is established for the greater good of the church.

Two areas in which the choir need to improve on in order to work towards a greater excellence of service for the Lord: attendance and discipline.  We pray that our lives will echo 1 Corinthians 10:31 “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
