Weekly Memory Verses
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

Hospital Ministry
|
This ministry of love and compassion continues to reach out to those who are physically infirmed while others stricken with some form of critical or terminal illnesses. These could be the loved ones or friends from our own church or other B-P churches or other associated churches. There was no fixed time or date for the visits, be it at the hospital, hospice or at home. It was done primarily on an “on call basis” i.e. as and when the call came. In general, for the believer, it would be a time of encouragement and comfort from the Word of God with the singing of one or two appropriate hymns and ending with a prayer, especially for those who were terminally ill. As for the unbeliever, depending on circumstances, the general approach was to establish a rapport which would be followed up with hospital or home visit(s) with the gospel message as the central theme or emphasis. However, in certain cases, it was needful to share the gospel on the first visit as the person concerned was seriously ill. Praying would precede each visit for wisdom from the Lord to guide and direct, that in speaking the truth in love, the Holy Spirit may bring about conviction of sin, turning that person to Christ as Saviour and Lord. After conversion and re-affirmation of faith, the person would be encouraged to be baptised which would be arranged with one of our pastors. Should the person subsequently pass away, practical help would be given especially with the funeral arrangements to include the vigil service(s) and funeral service. Most of the folks visited were the loved ones of members of our church as well as other B-P and non B-P churches. Among those ministered to in 2008 included some of our own members, their loved ones and some from other churches. Thank God that with Dn Oon Tik Koy actively committed to this ministry, the work has been much strengthened. This ministry calls for sacrifice, in both time and effort coupled with much patience and perseverance. By His grace and in His strength we continue to reach out to those who are physically infirmed, that they may be encouraged in the Lord and also find salvation in Him. May the Lord alone be glorified through this much needed ministry! Brethren do remember us in your prayers. |
