Weekly Memory Verses
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1 John 2 : 15
Bible Study Group - Phileo
|
In May 2008, the previously known Young Adults’ Fellowship or YAF was dissolved and the members formed a new group - Phileo BS group. Phileo which carries the meaning of brotherly love was chosen as the new name because we hope to show brotherly love one to another within our group and also to other like-minded brethren. In 2008, our Bible study topics were on the book of Psalms – Gleanings of godly wisdom, led by Elder Boaz Boon. We meet on the 3rd Saturday of every month at the home of Mr and Mrs Lim Jun Sheng. The meeting will begin with the Bible study based on a selected chapter from the book of Psalms, followed by a time of sharing and prayer. Then we will end the Bible study with a sumptuous dinner with dishes prepared by the members of the group. We finished 10 chapters of Psalms in 2008 (No BS in June and December due to church activities) where Elder Boon led us through the chapters of Psalms using Matthew Henry’s commentary with key points being highlighted. We covered topics on practical Christian living through the aspects of praise, prayer, faith, temptation and God’s will in our lives. These lessons and sharing have greatly helped and challenged each one of us in our individual Christian walk with God as we reflect on our daily walk with Him. We also want to thank God for the fellowship that we have within the group. We will regularly update one another with emails and short-messaging service (SMS) so we can better pray for one another. In 2009, we hope to grow closer to God and also to one another as we go through this pilgrim journey on earth together. Truly, “let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching” Hebrews 10:24-25. Indeed, it is not easy with the many challenges and responsibilities that we have in this world but may each one of us continue to look unto God to help us to manage our lives, jobs, and keep a close walk with Him. |
